I absolutely loved this DVD, Micheline is extremely detailed-driven in recreating her makeup and hair looks, and I like that you see how long each process takes-there is no over-editing or fast forwarding. It is perfect for someone who wants to emulate a look step-by-step, which also helps one improve their hair and makeup skills if that is their goal. She also included interesting facts about retro hair and makeup as she went through each makeover; highly recommended. (Posted on 8/12/2016)

It's incredible how much information is on this DVD. It's a great value and resource. I feel prettier already by applying the techniques I learned in the video. Watching the DVD feels as if you're hanging out with Micheline and she's sharing her best makeup secrets. Seriously, who doesn't want her makeup and hair tips. Her look is so unique and amazing. Every time I rewatch the tutorials, I learn something new. I was also very excited that she does makeup for ethnic models and addresses their concerns as well. As a woman of asian decent, I've found there are not a lot of of tips for us. One thing that would be helpful is information on color selection; how to pick the right colors for certain skintones. etc.

Overall this DVD exceeded my expectations and I would definitely recommend purchasing if you want to recreate the makeup looks you see on this site. Thanks pinupgirlclothing for providing beautiful clothes and showing us how to be modern pinups from head to toe. (Posted on 9/17/2015)

I don't know if it was just me - maybe I'm just greedy - but I was hoping for a lot more hair tutorials than were on the DVD.

And despite that I was so pleasantly surprised to see just how many different tutorials are in the DVD. Full hair and make up for different decades, all very different looks.

I found the tutorials easy to follow. Michelline does a great job of explaining her steps and why she does certain things.

As for value, I was not expecting to get a look from the 40's 50's 60's etc, so I definitely think I got more than my $30 worth! I just hope she puts another one out soon with more hair tutorials, like for her hairstyle on the cover. (Posted on 1/20/2015)

This is a great dvd, it's fun to see and hear Michelline style hair and makeup, and she gave me a ton of ideas about using fake bangs to change up a look.

My one disappointment is that she does not do miss Doris Mayday's hair or makeup, only eyebrows. Seeing Doris on the back cover and widely used as the promo photo for this dvd I was really surprised not to see it, and that was the only hair tutorial I really wanted to see! :( (Posted on 12/25/2014)

If you purchase this DVD, watch the section where Micheline does her own make-up first because if you purchase this to do your own hair and makeup, then it makes the most sense. When she is doing her hair, she re-forms curls when she doesn't like them and simply retries things until the hair does what she wants. She isn't following any specific style, she is making it up as she goes along and it looks beautiful. I really think this is invaluable because I have learned that, when doing my own hair, it never ends up looking exactly like a hairstyle I'm trying to recreate. This caused me a lot of stress at first, but one day I had a revelation that no one else but me knows what I was trying to do with my hair and that it actually does look fine. I know this because I continually have people stop me and tell me they love my vintage look. Micheline does a fabulous job of letting this come through. Don't think that what she shows in this DVD is beyond what you can do or is only for professionals. Just go with what you can accomplish for that day and build on it. This should all be fun, not a source of stress. So don't worry about recreating a specific look perfectly, but rather go with what is working for you at the time. My hair falls a little differently every day and I have learned to accept it. I often use Lauren Rennell's book Vintage Hairstyling for inspiration, but I don't set out to recreate things exactly because it simply doesn't work for me and it takes out some of the fun for me.

Also, Micheline keeps the products and special techniques to a minimum, in my opinion. I sometimes get overwhelmed with what is sometimes recommended to do hairstyles, but Micheline accomplishes everything with a curling iron, bobby pins, hair and thermal spray, and some duckbill clips. For her style, she does use extensions, but I don't (yet) and things turn out fine. Finally, she is right- everything does speed up the more you do your hair and makeup.

I really hope she does another DVD.... (Posted on 11/17/2014)

I know there are some great how-to hair and makeup books for pin-up style out there and there are a ton of YouTube videos; however, this DVD is worth having. If you are a visual learner, this DVD is for you. Micheline definitely has professional experience as a makeup artist and it shows, but she breaks down what she is doing as she is doing it and it makes it easy to follow along if you also watch what she is doing. I like that she isn't crazy bubbly and is simply calm and professional and obviously enjoys what she is doing. I really liked that there wasn't any background music because I plan on watching this again as I want to try creating the different looks and this way I can play my own music if I want. Other things I liked about the DVD:
- She does use models with different skin tones and facial features. I'm very fair with blue eyes and brown hair, but I'm training to be an esthetician (I am not a makeup artist though and typically wear pretty understated makeup) and I would like to know how to help women with different ethnicities than myself. Most of her stuff though is pretty universal and I do think the average woman would benefit greatly from this DVD.
- I like that she mentions the colors she uses but not the exact shade and brand name of the products. This allows me to think about what products I already do have that essentially match what she is using. I can't use silicone-based products, so it is nice to think about makeup from a color perspective rather than a brand-specific perspective.
- The room she is working in is just fun. :)
- I'm glad she showed things step by step, because this stuff does take time and I don't think a lot of people realize how long it can take sometimes.

This is a FABULOUS video for creating glamorous pin-up looks. I would, however, love it if Micheline would come out with a video for more daytime makeup looks with women wearing things like the Heidi dress or the capris and a Lauren top- something more casual. I think that beginners can recreate the looks she does in the DVD, but as Michelle (a previous reviewer mentioned) these looks are more time consuming than the average women is willing to make time for on a daily basis or simply too glamorous for a typical office job. That being said, I think you can still rock the look at an office job, it just needs to be a bit more understated and I think if Micheline did a DVD with this in mind, it would be incredible!!!! The stuff she presents can still be used on a day-to-day basis, it just has to be toned down and instead of trying to do the whole kit and caboodle, try to think about using a few of the techniques she shows. Maybe one day do a super simple eye, but use the tips she shows for creating the red lip.

Bottom line: don't wait over a year to purchase this like I did. It is quality work and I really, really, really enjoyed it a lot. There are a ton of things to learn and Micheline does a great job of making the looks doable and not intimidating. Just be willing to be patient at first and play around with it. I found the DVDs to be very useful for new techniques that can be picked out and used for everyday, you don't have to sit down and do the entire look as they take over an hour per style (hair taking up most of the time).

Micheline chooses different types models with different skin tones, hair types and lengths, and different eye shapes so you can see across the gamma of styles you could achieve, not to mention cementing in techniques . that can be used time and time again.

Only comment is that there could of been a low music track during some of the styles. Would love to see multiply DVDs from Micheline. (Posted on 1/1/2014)

I think it's a little pricey. But I suppose it's worth it for the eyebrow segment. I would have liked to see someone with nearly no eyebrows to see her truly work her magic. I also hope there is another DVD aimed solely toward hair and beginners (Posted on 12/4/2013)

I found the DVDs to be very useful. There are techniques that can be picked out and used for everyday, you don't have to sit down and do the entire look.

I like that Micheline chose different models with different skin tones, different hair types and lengths, and different eye shapes. I have deep set eyes, the makeup application on one of the models with very similar shaped eyes to mine, was EXTREMELY helpful.

Hope she does another DVD with just hair, showing roller techniques, and a mix of complicated and easy, everyday styles. (Posted on 12/4/2013)
