Our Spanish Capsule Collection is a collaborative collection from Laura Byrnes and Micheline Pitt that takes its inspiration from Spain, Italy, and South America.
This is not a dance of death this is a dance of celebration! The Mexican Matador skirt takes inspiration from not one but two sources. Hand-painted Mexican circle skirts were a popular and unique style of clothing in the 1950s but due to the design being painted rather than printed on, not to mention the passage of 60 years, vintage Mexican skirts in good to excellent condition have become a rare, highly sought-after, and costly garment. These skirts are meant to convey a story, and ours is thanks to our owner and designer Laura Byrnes original matador burlesque performance. This skirt showcases her dancing with the bull, not fighting it, and instead of being painted on, its printed on the sateen fabric to ensure a long life for both the characters and the skirt! This skirt also has side pockets, and true to the original Mexican skirts, the waist is adjustable with three buttons and ties at the back. We suggest ordering down if you're in between sizes.
