I asked on the PUG FB page about fit on this dress at my measurements, knowing I'd have to have the waist taken in. Laura responded that I should size up to the 2XL, since the blouse portion of the dress is less stretchy, and taking in the waist would be easier due to the dress construction.
The top is a stunning, rich dark purple. If you're wearing it in low light, it seems darker. It is exactly how I like my purples! The sateen is beautiful! The waist was large on me, as expected, but the shaping is such that I was able to wear it immediately without having it altered. I wrapped an obi belt around the waist to help the look, and it worked very well for me. My knees are small compared to my hips, so I had a bit of extra taper in the skirt added at the tailor, but that's just my preference. Like I said, I wore it without alteration at first!
The sleeves are a bit trim on my chunky upper arms, but I wasn't intending to raise my arms much on NYE. This isn't a dress for hard physical labor, so slightly limited range of movement didn't bother me. I love the collar and cuffs, and plan on purchasing other colors. The neckline can be a bit low for some situations, but I find that I can easily close the plunge a bit with a pretty brooch if I am headed into a more conservative situation. Lace-edge camis work well for this also.
I love the height of the waist. I'm 5'4" and my curves can make me look very short. The way the waist looks higher on this dress does a nice job of elongating me visually. I found that the length was excellent on me, and the kick pleats very pretty and designed in such a way that you can't see Spanx on underneath, since the pleats don't show leg!
It is made with the usual high quality I've come to expect from PUG, and the fabrics are comfortable and pretty!

I was concerned that the top of the dress wouldn’t have enough fabric to cover my bust, but it did, so a size Large was right for my bust. The cut of the dress top does some of the work of a cleavage enhancing bra. To enhance this effect further, I wear such a bra underneath this dress. Unfortunately, I think the waist of a Large is a little loose for me (even when my waist is 32”). The Large wound up being too long for me (I’m 5’3”), and the original hem of the skirt ended at mid-calf on me, which wasn’t flattering for my body. I hemmed it a few inches to sit just above my kneecaps. This entailed lopping off the kick pleats, but this does not impede my movement because the new length no longer restricts my movement below the knee.
Also, I dislike the hooks and eyes on the center back of the collar. They are necessary to A) enable the collar to be vampy while still B) allowing for a functional zipper entrance/exit, but they catch my hair. I have to wear it in a bun when I wear this dress, but it still snags sometimes. I think the only way I could avoid snagging my hair on the hooks at all is if I cut my hair to be no more than halfway down my neck. Overall, the effect and look of this dress *far* outweigh this irritation.
Despite the couple of construction issues I had, I think this dress is absolutely great. I cannot overstate how much of a boost this dress gives my self-confidence!
I like this dress so much that I fully intend to buy it in red, white, and green as well (even though I’ll have to hem them all again, and I *hate* hemming—that is how great this dress is!).

I will warn you of just a few things (and they are minor); If you are short (I am 5'2") you will defiantly need to take up the hem. 3" was perfect for my height (and the 5" stilettos I wore), and didn't cut off too much of the kick pleats in the back. The hook & eyes on the collar kept getting caught in my hair all night. I had my tailor flip the hooks and move they eyes in on the collar a bit farther and mischief managed. The arms are a bit restrictive, as was mentioned in a previous post, but i knew that when I ordered the dress. It just makes zipping up the dress a little cumbersome.
Thank you PUG for creating clothes that fit and flatter real women!!!

CONS: 1. The materials for the sleeves are NOT stretch which is a downer if your arms need a bit more give, especially if you have zip up the dress yourself. You'll barely be able to lift your arms up
2. the COLOR I got was purple and the picture makes it look a vibrant purple: It isn't. It's so dark, it's almost as dark as the black of the rest of the dress. so if you want a dress that pops instead of one that looks like a little black dress, you'll have to get another color :/
